Benefits Of Doing Yoga

You’ve probably noticed that the popularity of yoga has grown tremendously over the past few years. But what’s the hype all about? Well, yoga doesn’t only make your body look better and be able to do cool things like the splits.

Yoga has many health benefits both for your mind and body! To name just a few, it helps you sleep better, boosts your metabolism and can even help you lose weight!

Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t see why so many people do yoga and maybe you don’t feel comfortable taking it up. I understand that. But I hope that after you find out about all the benefits yoga has you will step over that emotional barrier and experience all the great stuff yoga has to offer!

In this article, I’ve gathered some of the benefits of yoga I’ve noticed the most and thought you should know about. So let’s get into the wonders yoga has to offer!

1.It makes you flexible

This is one of the most obvious benefits of yoga and one of the main reasons people start out with yoga in the first place.

But flexibility isn’t just something cool to show off to your friends. Flexibility itself has many health benefits, such as relieving muscle tension and stress, protecting against injuries, improving blood circulation and posture.

And these were just a few benefits of flexibility. And I must say, once I became a bit more flexible than I used to be, I definitely started to feel much better!

2.Relieves stress

You may be thinking: but how can yoga relieve stress if it’s just an easy workout? Well, that’s what I first thought but now, whenever I feel stressed out, yoga is my main solution. It really does help a lot and completely relaxes not only your body but your mind, too!

Something you should know is that stress doesn’t only make you feel bad emotionally, it can lead to weight gain and many other health problems. This is one of the main reasons there are so many obese people in the world these days.

So if you’re someone who experiences a lot of stress (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?), then I’m sure that yoga can help you a lot with this.

3.Helps you sleep better

Again, this may sound silly to you.  But as I said before, yoga helps a lot with relieving stress which, of course, leads to better sleep.

And sleep deprivation is a huge problem these days. Not only do you feel terrible when you’re tired all day. But your body doesn’t even function properly because of the lack of proper rest.

So try doing some yoga if you have problems sleeping because I’m positive this is the perfect natural solution and much better and healthier than taking sleeping pills!

4.Improves your posture

Another one of the most important benefits of yoga. Many people these days suffer from a poor posture due to a sedentary lifestyle and constantly being on the computer.

And a bad posture is not only visibly unappealing. It causes many aches and sores and prevents your body from functioning properly because everything isn’t aligned the way it should be.

So yoga is a relaxing and simple way to improve your posture and make your body function properly.

5.Strengthens your muscles

A lot of people think that yoga only focuses on flexibility. But the truth is, there are hundreds of different yoga poses and a lot of them focus on building muscle!

Some yoga poses may seem super easy. But you actually need a lot of muscle in order to perform them properly. And over time, as you get better in yoga, your muscles will grow a lot, too!

6.It balances your metabolism

Yoga is great for balancing your metabolism. A healthy metabolism keeps your hormones balanced, helps your body function properly, and helps you burn calories faster.

This means that you can eat more freely because you won’t gain weight as easily!

7.It helps you lose weight

Yeah yeah, I know you may be thinking this isn’t true because yoga is a pretty low-intensity workout. But a wrongful assumption many people make is that in order to lose weight, you absolutely need to go for jogs or do intense workouts at the gym.

But actually, yoga is the perfect weight loss workout. Not only does it help you burn calories because it is a physical workout. It also focuses on your mind and helps you psychologically by helping you relax, get better sleep, and experience fewer cravings.

But if you want to use yoga for weight loss, you should know that you will need to combine the proper yoga routine with healthy nutrition which is suitable for weight loss.

So once you’ve got the nutrition down, you can definitely start using yoga for weight loss! But you do need a suitable routine. Personally, my favorite yoga program out there is the “Yoga Burn” program by Zoey Bray-Cotton.

This program is by far one of the best ones you can find. It’s super easy-to-follow and easy-to-understand for beginners or intermediate-level yogis.

Plus, it’s aimed specifically at women who are trying to lose weight. So it will meet all your needs if you’re trying to lose weight. And it will be much more effective than a general yoga class not even aimed towards weight loss.

The “Yoga Burn” program is composed of 3 phases with different and very thorough videos to guide you every step of the way. That’s why it’s perfect for beginners who don’t know much about yoga yet.

And I must say, with Zoey Bray-Cotton’s program, I learned A LOT of new yoga poses and techniques in probably the smallest amount of time possible!

Thanks to this program, I completely fell in love with yoga and all of the benefits of yoga. It became a complete lifestyle change for me and I’ve never felt as happy and healthy as I do now! And I’m sure that if you decide to start out with yoga, you’ll repeat my words!
